When Kelli Fisher and Tana Gilmore decided to launch a Professional Matchmaking firm, they contacted me immediately. I had been their brand coach for previous ventures and we have always gotten amazing results collectively. Working on this project was a natural fit and it has been an amazing journey with the Fisher Gilmore Matchmaking (FGM).
After carefully considering all my coaching options Kelli and Tana opted to go with my VIP Coaching Program in order to get their business needs addressed in a one-on-one environment. This approach allowed me to probe deeply and create a brand strategy that would encompass their long and short term needs.
BRANDING THE DUO
The first thing I determined was that FGM had a unique brand position with both partners being African American thus minorities in the industry. Also the fact that they had a dual approach was in contrast to most matchmakers who are solo acts. I quickly coined the team The Matchmaking DUO which has stuck as their professional moniker (name).
I also lent my expertise to THE DUO in order to help them create the ideal visual representation of their brand. I offered them insights on their fashion style, color scheme and photography style. In addition I worked directly with their graphic design team to create a cohesive look on all collateral including printed materials, logo design and web design.
It’s all about how you communicate your message that gets people to buy into your brand. The Matchmaking DUO wanted to communicate with a level of professionalism that was both warm and polished. We worked to create a clear concise elevator pitch along with a proficient mission statement. This gave The DUO the confidence to pitch themselves to potential clients and the media.
Within the first 90 Days of coaching Kelli and Tana were able to land interviews with the New York Post, The Wall Street Journal, Charlotte Today (NBC Affiliate) and Essence Magazine. I couldn’t have been more proud to be cheering them on.
WHAT THEY DID RIGHT
Creating a credible brand is costly, but necessary. You can’t expect for clients to invest in your brand when you yourself cut corners! The DUO took every assignment and challenge that I posed seriously. They hired a top notch team for their design, photos and fashion styling. They created a budget and an execution plan that best suited them and implemented their launch in stages. I always tell my clients “the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time. ” See the results of their success below.
